QuakeCon 2017 announced the BYOC registration setup for this year. The quick and dirty (details here) is:
March 30 – BYOC UAC VIP tickets ($400, limit 32)
April 6 – BYOC Quakecon Done Quick ($150, limit 300)
April 13 – BYOC Select a seat ($50, no limit stated).
April 24 – General Admission (free)
As usual the last several years, BYOC costs $ while the general admission to the event is free. If you're in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and think that because you don't have any spare cash so it's not worth going to, the non-BYOC side of the event is amazing. You should still go, it's like a county fair for Quake fans, but free! :) $50 for a BYOC event for a weekend isn't bad either. Right now I just checked and flights for me to Dallas are super-cheap (under $300 round trip, cheaper then the last time I went in 2009!) so hey, if I can come up with several hundred extra buckaroos I might go! :)
The QuakeCon staff also gave an explanation of what and why things are different this year vs last year, so give that a read. You can read that here.
There's a new Quake Champions (the Q3A remake) trailer out, view below:
You can also sign up to participate in the beta over at Quake.com. Also, if you're going to PAX East you can give QC a try at the Bethesda booth.
Quake.com has some information on the players, weapons, and arenas of QC. Not much yet, but from watching video it DOES look like Q3A redone for today (they did good with Doom!). So, here's hoping for all the custom support that Q3A had and a built in version of Excessive Overkill! :)
Qbism, the one that managed getting Quake Expo 2016 off the ground, gave me some time for an interview. We cover his begignings in Quake, Quake Expo, and more! Click the "Read More" button down below for a gander.
Today is Quake Expo's Booth Preview Day! :D Head on over to Quake Expo 2016 to preview several of the booths that will be showing next month!
What is Quake Expo? It's an online showing of all things Quake, and like an Expo in real life it runs only for a limited time! Gamers/Quakers with Quake content to show can read the FAQ on how to share their creations/ideas with the Quake community. Use #qexpo to spread on unsocial media! :)
id/Bethesda have reveleaed their next game in the Doom/Quake lineup, and that's Quake Champions. Trailer below:
The descriptions is “The fast, skill-based arena-style competition that turned the original Quake games into multiplayer legends is making a triumphant return with Quake Champions. Running at an impressive 120hz with unlocked framerates, id Software’s new multiplayer shooter is getting ready to take PC gaming by storm once more.
Quake Champions features a roster of unique characters, each with their own distinctive abilities, allowing you to fight the way you want. . Get your first look at Quake Champions and some of its heroes in the cinematic reveal trailer, debuted during the #BE3 2016 Showcase. To stay up to date with all the latest information on Quake Champions, head to Quake.com.”
From the look of it, it's Generations Arena, but commercial. That could be pretty neat! One thing pointed out to me is that next week is the Quake release anniversary and the Quake guy is killed in the trailer at the end! Bummer! :(
